Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory

Rated 13+ Content: A Video: A+
Reviewed on 4/15/05 Audio: A Packaging Contents: B-

Video:
Released out in 1990, the video quality is fully restored and it looks excellent.

Audio:
The audio is also restored with a 5.1 English and Japanese tracks, which both sound very good.

Packaging Contents:
The Packaging contents are just so-so here. We get some good cover arts. Not to mention we also get reversable covers. That's definitely a plus! The inserts contain a time line of events. Very useful, especially if you haven't seen any of the previous Gundam series. The menus are very basic in design, but they do the job. However, like most Gundam titles, the extras are lacking. However, they are too bad. We get a couple textless openings and endings, Mobile Suit Encyclopedia, and a four minute short.

Content:
The year is Universal Century (UC) 0083. Three years have past since the One Year War (see Mobile Suit Gundam) has ended. However, remnants of Zeon decide to plot there revenge by stealing a prototype Gundam (unit 2), armed with a nuclear warhead. Can Ensign Kou Uraki an Earth Federation soldier (that pilots Gundam unit 1) stop the Nightmare of Solomon (Anavail Gato) from using the nuke? The story sounds very simple. However, there is a lot more to it. A woman named Nina Purpleton is the engineer who created the two Gundams, has connections with both Kou Uraki and Anavail Gato. With her involvement, the show is very unpredictable. Not to mention Gato's superior (known as Delaz) has a couple of other plans up his sleeve, known as Operation Stardust.

Overall, Gundam 0083 can actually compete even with today's anime. With non-stop mecha action, humanistic character personalities, catchy music and remastered video. Gundam 0083 is one explosive and enjoyable Gundam title. If you have seen Zeta Gundam, you'll notice a few recognizable characters, such as Haman Khan. For those, that have enjoyed Gundam Wing, then this is a must see. Even if you haven't seen the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Gundam 0083 can be viewed on its own and it's an excellent choice, for those that are new to Gundam. Very Recommended!
